FIFTEEN witnesses were brought to support the town council's objections when W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd., applied to the Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority to renew their licence to operate buses. from Newport, the Fife terminal of -the Tay Ferry, using the present •stances in Boat Road.
The Authority said that on two previous occasions he had granted shortterm licences to enaffie discussions to take place to find a solution of the problem: which had troubled Newport for nearly 20 years.
Mr. R. C. B. Currie, for the applicants, suggested an informal conference with the council, but Mr. A. Gitruth, town Lierk, insisted that the hearing proceed first. Mr. R. S. Forrester, Kirkcaldy area manager of Alexander's. said that the council were responsible for providing a bus station and his company would contribute towards the cost.
The hearing was adjourned until March 30.
