LAMPLOYEES of the London Transport Executive, provincial bus companies and municipal transport undertakings have been awarded payment of about time and a quarter for work on Saturdays after 1 p.m., instead of the rate of time and a half claimed. This concession becomes effective in the first full pay week after February 23.

The tribunal declares that no case has been made out to establish the principle that where work is performed after 1 p.m. on Saturday as part of the normal working week, it should necessarily be remunerated at enhanced rates. In particular, the award emphaslies that there is no case for payment on Saturday afternoons at the rates paid for work on Sundays or agreed public holidays.
