BEATING tough competition from US bus builders, Neoplan US Corporation has gained a valuable order from Los Angeles operator SCRTD, calling for delivery of 415 ADB-type (Advanced Design Bus) vehicles by April 1984.
The order, worth $5 million (£3.1m), represents further penetration of the market which, in the last two years, has seen introduction of Neoplan psv in 30 US cities. Los Angeles already operates 20 Neoplan Skyliners which were supplied cbu from Stuttgart.
The new Detroit Diesel engined (280bhp) single deckers for 68 passengers, (43 seated) now ordered will be built in the Lemar, Colorado, plant using front and rear axles, electrical equipment and steering gear sourced from Germany.
