FORD ended its past financial year with a boost to its pre-tax profit of 62 per cent over the 1974 figure of £8.75m to £14.1m.
Chairman and managing director, Mr Terry Beckett, told a meeting of Ford's shop stewards and conveners that the company was the market leader in trucks throughout 1975.
The company had pushed its contribution to the British balance of payments up 59 per cent to a record 055m.
Mr Beckett announced that Ford of Britain intends to create 3,000 new jobs in its expansion programme.
