Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Do you find that living in an age of abbreviations and initials makes one numb to their significance? I have just realized that for some weeks I have been reading FCIT and MCIT after the names of transport men without the penny dropping. Of course those of you who are quicker off the mark will know that these are the new abbreviations for the fellows and members of the Institute of Transport, which is now the Chartered Institute of Transport.

Don't feel too badly if you hadn't realized it either; the young lady who looks after our Forthcoming Events diary has been carrying a file for MInsT and CIT until this very moment.
