AN exceptionally comprehensive display of vehicles is a feature of the 'exhibit pnt up by the Commer concern, in conjunction with the local distributor, the Reading Garage Co., Ltd., at .the Royal Counties Show at Prospect Park, Reading, this week.
A particularly well-finished 8-cwt. 'van points the way to developing the publicity value of the vehicle in trad ing, whilst a cattle-truck body by Messrs. Thornes, of Condover, is a good example of first-class bodybuilding. There is also included the new 5-ton Tong-wheelbase platform lorry.
On the Ford stand is to be seen an attractive vehicle in the Lambourn for
ward-facing colt and filly horsebox, in corporating the Baico-extended Fordeon 2-ton chassis. It has been speci ally well planned, for even weight distribution. A full range of standard Fordsons is also on view.
An exhibit of Morris-Commercial vehicles is in the hands of liewens Garages, Ltd., Maidenhead, which, in addition to vans and lorries, shows the general-utility estate lorry as a cattle truck. • City Motor Co. (Oxford), Ltd., handles the Bedford range, exhibiting a cattle truck with one-man-operated ramp; a 2-ton hydraulic end tipper and an S:cwt. van, The National Motor Horsebox Co. and Messrs. Vincent's, of Reading, are showing their latesttype horseboxes.
T. Baker and Sons (Compton), Ltd., exhibits a new 5-ton land trailer,
which has interesting features of design. The chassis is formed of heavy tubular members and is mounted on four Dunlop H.D.V. land tyres. The
AM front wheels are mounted on stub axles and steering drag links are coupled to the towhar, which has pivotal attachment to the front axle. The body is' of normal lorry pattern and the price is 295.
Agricultural tractors represented include the Challenger and 25-40 Massey Harris, shown by the maker, and the International range exhibited by the manufacturer and several dealers. A Fowler oil-engined machine is on Ransome's stand, whilst the Marshall 12-20 single-cylinder oiler is exhibited by the maker. Jack Gliding, Ltd., has on view two Caterpillar models and two John Deeres.
There is a big display of AllisChalmers outfits by two dealers, Messrs. Bennett's, of Hungerford, and
Tractors and Motors (Southern), Ltd. The Model K crawler, in its latest form, is to be seen, with new controls and a four-speed gearbox, in place of a three-speed box.
Associated Manufacturers Co. (London), Ltd., combines with Messrs. Treloggcn and Veitch, of Southampton, in an exhibit of three types of Case tractor, and the Case directcoupled power-drive mower.
Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., shows a comprehensive collection of equipment for tractors and land implements, whilst Firestone and India tyres are also well represented. Special equipment for row-crop tractors can be seen on the stand of Miller Wheels, Ltd. The Gouring open-tread wheel is known on the Ford stand.
