Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Karen Miles • A demonstration in the East of England that was supposed to attract 1,000 lorries failed badly last weekend, with police outnumbering drivers three to one when only 24 truckers bothered to turn up.

The demonstration on the A14 near Cambridge was intended to show the government the level of disgust felt by operators over recent diesel rises.

Even before the weekend organisers had lowered their sights, predicting that 2-300 hauliers would turn up.

Inspector Steven Brown from Suffolk police said afterwards: "I know they (the organisers) were disappointed at the end of it... we have had no feedback of complaints from motorists held up, although we did put warnings in the local paper and on the local radio."

Linda Frood from Essexbased Alexander M Frood was among those irate at the lack of support. She says: "For goodness sake truckers, stand up and be counted when it matters. Next time someone takes time and effort to draw attention to our plight, do something."
