Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A truck driver was found not guilty and was awarded costs after he defended himself against an allegation that he pushed over a signpost to manoeuvre his Scania artic out of a traffic jam.

Jason Goddard, 22, from Wymondham, Norfolk, appeared at Maidenhead Magistrates Court in Berkshire last Thursday accused of not stopping after an accident — the alleged accident being one in which his lorry reversed into a street sign.

Goddard told the court that he had just delivered a mobile home to a riverbank site. "When I returned to the main road, I found it was difficult to turn right, so I reversed and, realising I had come up against the road sign, I got out to look," he said. "It was clear to me the sign had been previously damaged, so I did not think it necessary to report the incident." A witness said the posts were still on the ground two days after the incident.
