Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• ERF has introduced a 12m single-deck dual-purpose chassis for the Far East, which could be adapted for the UK market.

There are no immediate plans to sell the chassis in the UK, but ERF says it will reconsider if sufficient demand is shown.

The heavy-duty chassis is suitable for high-floor urban buses or urban coaches, where only a small luggage capacity is required. Two right-hand-drive prototypes were shipped to the Far East last week.

They are fitted with rearmounted Cummins LTA10.290 engines which produce 216kW (290hp) through six-speed ZF gearboxes. The 4x2 straightframed chassis have full air suspension.

ERF does not intend to develop the 17-tonne GVW chassis into a full coach or doubledecker.

It says that if it were to adapt the chassis for the UK only a few minor changes would be needed, including shifting the fuel tank and using a "different throttle".

ERF already sells bus chassis throughout southern Africa: it has sold more than 1,300 bus chassis there through its subsidiary, ERF South Africa.
