HAULIERS and others engaged in international road transport from the UK will this month be receiving a questionnaire from the DoE, which is conducting a statistical survey on international operation. About 4,000 companies—all of whom have applied for international permits since 1973—will be receiving questionnaires.
The DoE is conducting the survey because of a growing need among hauliers and others for better information about the volume and nature of road freight to other countries. The Department itself will use the information during negotiations with other Governments over permit and quota levels. Both UK operating .assocations have been consulted, a DoE spokesman told CM this week.
