Dr John Gilbert, Minister for Transport, has appointed George Park, MP for Coventry NorthEast, as his Parliamentary Private Secretary. Mr Park worked for 25 years for the Rootes Group; for 20 of those years he was a shop tsteward; and he is a member and former branch president of the AUEW. Mr Park is also leader of Coventry District Council and a member of West Midlands County Council.
John Niblock, National Bus Company group executive, marketing and operational research, will shortly be appointed a director of National Bus Management Ltd, with responsibilities to the chief executive for NBC's central activities group, succeeding David W. Glassborow, Mr Glassborow be comes director of economic planning; his duties will include corporate planning, research and liaison with the EEC and European organisations. He will be assisted by A. Beetham, group executive, planning, who will continue to be responsible for the NBC's planning department at Oxford but will also assume responsibility for the NBC's marketing and operational research establishment at Peterborough.
John Haines has been appointed British Leyland Truck and Bus Division general service manager; since 1970 he has been gsm trucks and tractors. John Kinnear, formerly bus service manager, becomes UK truck service manager. Michael Rix, until recently area manager (Africa), now takes over
from Mr Kinnear as bus service manager.
H. J. Neale, 27, who has been assistant to Pickford's Removals' northern area manager, becomes Harrogate manager. Sid R. Perrat, who has been dealing with customer relations management at head office, becomes public relations officer.
Robert Lawson has been appointed sales and development manager of Sutton & Son (St Helens) Ltd, road transport contractor.
William C. C. Kane, 37, becomes operations co-ordinator of Cory Distribution, a member of the Ocean Group, Mr Kane has previously been manager at Cory depots in Newcastle, Newport and Cumbernauld. Gordon H. Sims, 42, previously distribution control at Hackbridge (South Londi depot, becomes Newport manag G. N. C. Flint has succeeded Hu Gardner as chairman of L. Gal ner & Sons Ltd, Mr Gardn chairman and joint managi director, having reached retii meat age. Mr Flint is senior pa ner in Addleshaw, Sons & Latha the company's solicitors, and h been closely connected with t affairs of the company for ma years. E. A. Todd and W.
