Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I have two Scammell trailers which have been failed due to a "bent" axle and, according to the Examiners, they have failed quite a few for the very same reason. They told the operators to come back after their axles had been straightened.

As the trailers are manufactured with a cambered axle, any straightening will make the trailer substandard and weaken the axle. It will also result in excessive tyre wear, etc., contrary to the maker's design.

I would like you to publish this letter so that the matter will be brought to light. Any operator who has been so unfortunate as to have carried out the instructions of the Examiner may also get in touch with yourself or the Ministry of Transport and may be refunded for the additional expense caused by this inexperienced Examiner's decision, after which the Ministry of Transport should understand that a training course for their Examiners is not sufficient to educate them in every field when it has taken operators and repairers a lifetime working and sleeping with commercial vehicles and even they are learning something new every day.
