Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN the container world certain names predominate. One of these is MAT Transport Ltd. which recently had to extend its Peterborough depot by 17,600 sq ft. only two years after the original one was ,opened. Bad planning, one could be excused for thinking: but certainly not in the case of MAT which uses the depot exclusively for the packing and loading into TIR vehicles as well as ISO containers) of Perkins diesel engines, manufactured only a short distance away. Perkins traffic passing through the depot has increased by leaps and bounds; from 15,000 engines in the first year the depot was opened, to 31,000 last year. This year the number will be in excess of 40,000 and next year it jumps to 50,000. With about 25 containers and trailers being loaded a week, not to mention three trailers a day on CKD traffic, MAT is planning to keep up with Perkins but, at the same time, take advantage of the position of Peterborough, stragetically placed between the Midlands and the East Coast, in short, it plans to offer groupage and container consolidating facili ties to other customers, utilizing the latest container loading equipment, including the first MAFI Portalift in use in this country capable of carrying 40ft containers.
