• A notice of motion asking Manchester City Council to call for the resignation of Ald. Harry Sharp from his appointment as chairman of the SELNEC PTA is to be given by Labour members of the council on the score that he had previously opposed the formation of such authorities. As Manchester is Conservative-controlled, it would appear that there is little likelihood of the proposition being accepted.
The proposal follows the removal of six Labour members of the council from the Manchester Ship Canal Board because of their attitude to the proposed nationalization of the docks. A Conservative spokesman said the important difference was that the PTA was an accomplished fact, whereas it was not absolutely certain that the docks nationalization would take place.
