• Cadbury's Cake Division at Blackpole, Worcester, is beginning a transport reequipment programme involving the conversion of its bulk-delivery transportation from a mixed fleet of coach-built trailers—including double-deckers--to a standardized fleet of York Freightmaster vans. The fleet is contract hired from British Road Services.
Already, it is claimed, the greater cubic capacity of the frameless vans has given a boost to productivity, six of the new units getting through a work schedule that used to tie up 10 of the old vans. Further long-term benefits are seen in full interchangeability, and standardization of spares and servicing facilities.
