The general slump in the Lincoln Engineering trade, in which the production of agricultural motors forms an

essential part, is reflected in the report just issued of the directors of Messrs, Wm. Foster and Co., Ltd. for the vealending February 28th, stating that the annual trading has resulted in a net loss of £7,503 lls. 11d. The sales have been the lowest in the history of the company, the greatest difficulty having been experienced in disposing of its products, even at prices well below cost of production, The firm, the report observes, :does not stand alone in its difficulties, and only time can show the extent of the 'present depression. The directors are making every effort to deal with the situation as it exists. The conservative policy which has hitherto been pursued by the directors will, they feel confident, flable the company to weather the -!,storm as surely as the strongest of its competitors. The amount standing to the credit of the profit and toss account is 7,484 Os. 9d. The "direetors propose that a dividend of 6 per cent, per annum be paid on the cumulative preference shares, leaving a balance of £4,608, which they propose to carry forward.,
