Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

This supersized van comes with heavy-duty underpinnings thanks to a ladder frame chassis and reinforcing around the load area.

But the added strength shouldn't detract from what is a nimble-handling vehicle, employing all of the French manufacturer's chassis expertise to allow excellent manoeuvrability.

There's a new engine that boasts better fuel economy, too. The 3.0-litre DXi is tuned to develop either 120hp or 160hp with five and six-speed tranmissions respectively, together with improved torque characteristics.

However, there's also the small matter of load capacity to consider which, for a panel van, is very much on the large side. Payloads on the heavier versions are not far off those you'd expect from a traditional 7.5-tonner.

And that may be what's holding the Mascott back; when people want the qualities of a truck, that's what they go for. yet the light Renault possesses most of those qualities anyway.

V Security and practicality ot a panel van v Payload competitive for vehicle v Modern, efficient driveline
