Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Trailers drawn by tractors and drawbar prime movers registered after April 1989 will soon have to be fitted with selfsealing air valves (CM 21 December-3 January 1995).

The necessary changes to the Construction and Use regulations are due to be made by 1 April. The move follows a number of accidents caused by failing trailer brakes. The trailer suzies will have to be fitted with small plastic disks to make them compatible with self-sealing air lines; these valves will be checked as part of the annual test.

0 Owners of vehicles of up to seven tonnes GVW may soon be allowed to put them in for their first MOT test a month before it is legally required, under proposals now before Parliament.

The changes, which follow extensive consultation with interested parties, will allow owners of three-year-old vehicles coming up for their first MoT the same flexibility as owners of older vehicles. Trucks not subject to Class 4 MoTs are not affected.
