Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Two self-centring internal micrometers to measure largerthan-average bores have been introduced by Bowers Internal Gauge.

Employing the Bowers principle of three ratchet controlled expanding anvils, the two instruments cover bore sizes from 308 to 360mm and 360 to 412mm respectively. Resolution is 0.001m and repeatability is 0.004mm.

The three-point measurement system is said to give key advantages in large diameter work. It

enables the anvils to be more precisely centred than is possible with stick micrometers and also spreads the measuring forces more evenly. An added benefit is the ability to measure blind bores to a depth of 140mm, extensions for deeper holes being available as optional extras.

The micrometer handle incorporates a digital display powered through a rotary encoder by a long life battery.

Illustrated literature is available.
