Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

and Found (CM 30 November-6 December) I believe that nine times out of 10 you will find it is the nearside wheels that come loose. This is because most vehicles now have righthand threads on both sides as a cost saving.

If left-hand threads were fitted on the nearside and righthand threads were fitted on the offside this would solve some of the problems. This is because as the wheels are revolving forwards, this would act as a force of tightening the wheel nuts. I believe British Leyland used this system some years ago.
