DESIGN FOR THE DISABLED • A steel company is offering cash prizes for vehicle designs to help the disabled, in three categories: small scale engineering (such as wheelchair fixings); practical adaptations to vehicle design, including lift installations; and system design and overall vehicle concepts.

Cromweld Steels will reward the three winners with £1,000 each, and there are six consolation prizes. The Cromweld Challenge is open to engineers or trainees between 18 and 28 years. Entries must be received by 31 January.
