• Leyland Daf expects to learn within the next eight weeks if it has won a 5,000truck deal with the Saudi Arabian army. The company hopes that its success in winning the British Army's four-tonne 4x4 deal last summer will impress the Saudis. The Saudi contract could be worth more than the i!125 million British Army deal and the Saudis have already indicated that they would probably follow the lead of the British Army.
Some 10% of Leyland Daft; output is now taken by armed forces around the world.
