A HIGHER-powered diesel Ducato will be available From Fiat UK from March.
The stroke of the Sotim 8144.61 indirect-injection engine currently fitted in the l)ucato has been increased giving a greater 2,499cc displacement and a boost in power from 54kW (72hp) to 56kW (75hp) at 4,200 rpm.
Peak torque oti the fourcylinder engine has also been raised from 147Nm (108 lbft) at 2,4011rpm to 168Nm (123 'bit) at 2,200rpm. Fuelling is unaltered, although modifications have been made to the engine's pre-ignition glowplug system to give quicker starting.
Fiat UK is currently evaluating the latest turbocharged 2.5-litre direct-injection Sotim engine — offered in the Iveco Daily — (CM, October 5, 1985) for possible use in the Ducato.
