TFIL ROA1) transport industry was not exactly inundated with awards in the New Year honours list: directors of shipping companies with road transport interests fared best in the thin list.
Brian Shaw, chairman and chief executive of Furness Withy, received a knighthood.
Leonard Fiddock, general manager of Associated Container Transportation (ACT) received the MBE.
British Empire Medals (15MF.$) were awarded to Robert Allan, a driver with Giddings and Lewis Fraser of Arbroath, and to Patrick Arnold, a senior road inspector with London Buses.
