Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RATIONING and the higher cost of fuel are among the reasons for a reduction in opposition by employees E o plans of the Lincolnshire Road Car Co„ Ltd., to introduce one-man buses on certain routes.

At a recent meeting between the company and workers' representatives at the Grantham, Grimsby and Cleethorpes depots, it was agreed that the buses would go into service "in due course." The two representatives of the Lincoln depot refused to negotiate.

Other reasons are the company's offer of a 15-per-cent, wage increase to drivers of the buses, and the general policy of the National Union of Railwaymen, to which the men belong, favouring one-man-bus operation.

A few weeks ago the secretary of the Lincoln branch of the N.U.R. threatened strike action if one-man buses were placed in service (The Commercial Motor, November 16).
