Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MHE fourth annual dinner of Coven.1 ton's, Ltd., was held at Verrey's Restaurant, Nanover Street, Regent Street, London, W.1, last Tuesday, and was attended by practically the whole staff of the company and a number of guests, including representatives from Kearley and 'Tousle, Ltd., the wellknown wholesale grocers, and others well known in the business world who have relations with the company.

After the Royal toast, proposed by the chairman, Mr. J. Coventon Moth, that of "The Firm" was proposed by Mr. J. O'Connor, who has been associated with Mr. Moth for something like 15 years. Be said that there were not better lorries running On the road than the Scammell tractor-lorries owned by the company, and part of their efficiency was due to the expedition with which repairs were effected in the unusual event of breakdown on the road, spare parts being despatched immediately

and, if necessary, accompanied by a fitter.

In his reply, Mr. J. B. Parrington, manager of the company, pointed out that it must always be remembered that every driver and loader is an ,essential part of the company, and that to maintain success in the future all must pull together. He gave some interesting statistics of the work which had been done under contract for Kearley and Tonge, Ltd. The Scammell vehicles had run 440,702 miles in the past year, making 2,421 individual trips, and in only 20 cases was a vehicle, late, this being due mainly to adverse weather conditions and in very few instances, to mechanical breakdowns. The value of the goods carried was £2,000,000, and in view of the fact that much of it was perishable, the claims for £17 4s. 9d. could be regarded RR insignificant. An improvement carried out on the vehicles is that these have now beon fitted with

cabs affording better protection for the men. It should be noted that the vehicles now bear the title_ ‘` International Stores."

Mr. J. Coventon Moth proposed "The Health of the "Visitors," and regretted that, through illness, Col. Scamrnell could not attend. .

Mr. Foster, a representative of Kearley and Tonge, Ltd., who was the principal guest of the evening, in replying for the visitors, pointed out that he really classed himself as one of the members of the transport company and not only as a visitor. He stated that the vehicles were very good at timekeeping, and that he had no reproaches against them from the point of view of efficiency ; the claims were negligible, and, in fact, he was able to say to other contractors, " Coveuton's do it ; why cannot you?"

During and after dinner the party was entertained by talented 'artistes.
