Eurovignettes are a single permit for lorries over 12 tonnes to travel on much of the Continental motorway network. They were introduced in 1995 for Germany. Denmark Belgium, Luxembourg and Holland. Sweden joined about two years ago. The UK was invited to join but declined. The charges help cover the costs of using the motorways and are levied on both domestic and foreign vehicles.

Eurovignettes can he bought at ports in the nand mainly from petrol stations and service areas on the Continent. They can be bought for a day, week, month or year.
