• Volkswagen is aiming to enter a new market with the LT46 PSU (Police Special Unit), a long-wheelbase van with seating for 10 passegers plus a secure holding area at the back. The 1146 has been converted by Coleman Milne of Lancashire. and is starting a tour of police forces around the UK. The vehicle includes fireproof insulation, body protection and a windscreen shield which can be locked in place. It is powered by VW's 2.8-litre, 123hp (92kW) fourcylinder DI turbo-diesel, and has air conditioning for the front passengers and an extraction system to remove CS gas from the holding area.
