Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A delivery driver who stole almost £10,000 worth of goods from his employers has been jailed for a year.

Darren Whitehouse arranged that valuable industrial goods heading to firms in the Midlands never reached their destination, Gloucester Crown Court was told.

Whitehouse, of Sheldon, Birmingham, admitted the theft of 13,349 worth of brass terminal blocks, £1,225 worth of steel cable, .£2,100 worth of rubber grommets and £3,276 worth of aluminium components, all from Hawser Midlands of Birmingham between February and Apr[11996. He asked for two other offences of theft to be considered.

Whitehouse, who was employed by Flowser as a delivery driver, had previous convictions for dishonesty. The court heard that the thefts came to light after goods failed to arrive at a Cheltenham firm.

Anita Meech, defending, said: "These are plainly offences committed in breach of the trust his employers had in him. He admits he had an entrenched attitude to crime and if an opportunity presented itself, he felt almost compelled to take it."
