A NEW company, Crane Fruehauf Rigids Limited, was formed this month to co-ordinate, develop, manufacture and market the expanding rigid vehicle body-building activities of the other Crane Fruehauf subsidiaries.
Three factors have influenced this move: the expansion of CF Imperial, the group's light-van body building division; the acquisition last year of demountable vehicle systems manufacturer, Pengco, to become CF Peng-co; and plans to develop further sales of light tankers and tippers for rigid chassis.
Crane Fruehauf Rigids will now offer the transport industry a range of rigid chassis bodies with capacities from 30 cwt to 24 tons, covering dry freight and refrigerated vans; alloy and steel tipper bodies; aluminium, stainless and mild steel tanks and hoppers for the carriage of liquids and powders; and a demountable vehicle system.
