Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

What is the case when a driver normally employed driving heavy goods vehicles does not, for some reason, drive an hgv of any class during the three-year period for which his licence is valid?

Will he be able to renew his hgv licence in the same way as an ordinary licence is renewed, or does he have to prove that he has been driving hgv, in the same way that a psv driver now has to do in order to retain his licence?

Similarly is a Class! hgv driver employed driving Class 3 vehicles able to retain his Class 1 qualification although he may not have driven artics since his hgv driving test

AThe holder of an hgv driving licence of

any class can renew his licence when it expires or at any time during a period of five years after the expiry date whether or not he has been driving vehicles of the class for which he holds the licence or even if he has not driven any goods vehicles at all during that period. The only exception to this is a case where a licence has been revoked by the Licensing Authority for certain offences.

A person who passes the hgv driving test but does not apply for an hgv driving licence at that time, may do so at any time within a period of five years from obtaining the test pass certificate.
