THE new regulations, made by the Minister of Fuel and Power, amending the definition of private motor vehicles, came into force on December 1 last year. In the first full month after this date, only l7 utility vehicles and adapted private cars were authorized under C liCences, compared with 3,222 in November, 5,000 in October, and over 4,000 in September.

The number of vehicles of all types authorized under C licences during December totalled 7,355. A breakdown of this number by unladen weights is given in the table below. New operators accounted for 3,886, or just over half of the December registrations.
