Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN UNINSURED motorist who had been drinking orphaned four children when he killed their parents while they were crossing the road after locking up their garage on Christmas Eve. But for the Motor and Cycle Trades Benevolent Fund, the family would have had to be split and taken into care, because the only relatives — two sets of grandparents — did not have the means to support them.

For 11 years Ben has given regular grants to the grandparents and at last the family is financially independent. Care of children is a lesser-known aspect of the Fund's splendid work and contributions are invited to Ben's Christmas Appeal, Lynwood, Sunninghill, Ascot, Berks SL5 OAJ.

This story echoes the theme of Gabrielle Gerrans' awardwinning Christmas-card design to which I referred on November 20.1t is also a terrible warning against having just one more for the road.
