Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Eston Urban District Council has considered the working and future prospects of the Tees-side !tailless Traction Beard, and has come to the conclusion that as it is a public-utility• . service it should not cease function ing. The council, however, thought that there should be drastic economies, and that halfpenny stages would encourage people to travel on the trolley-buses. It has been decided to let the matter remain in abeyance for 12 months, in view of steps which are to be taken by the board to effect economies and to attract increased patronage.

In Praise of Harriers.

In March of this year Karrier Motors, Ltd. of Huddersfield, delivered to Messrs. The Super Transport Co., of Newport, Shropshire, an articulated six-wheeler for carrying 12-ton loads, and that this Vehicle has given most satisfactory service is obvious from a communication received from the users by the Birmingham depot of the maker.

In this communication it is said that the vehicle has worked continuouily five days per week for seven months past and has often been kept busy on Saturday mornings when, in the ordinary way, washing down, oiling and greasing were carried out. No mechanical adjustments have been found necessary. The users say that the excellent behaviour of the vehicle on the road has been directly responsible for increasing the firm's haulage -business to double what it was before it was put into use.

This is the third Karrier vehicle to be purchased by Messrs. The Super Transport Co., a 5-ton, chain-driven model and a AVDS-type having been put into service in 1919. Both these vehicles are continuing to give satisfactory service in undertaking heavy haulage, the latter often being called upon to deal with trailer loads.
