Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Advisory signposted routes for heav vehicles, reinforced by mandatory bans o some roads if necessary, are among measurt being proposed by the Minister for Tram port Industries, Mr John Peyton, to loci authorities.

Local authority associations, and otht interested organizations, are being set copies of the draft proposals for the signin of advisory lorry routes, with specii emphasis on areas around ports.

The proposals refer particularly to intei national journeys and also point out tin councils already have powers to ban parti cular classes of vehicles from some area!

Distinctive signs are proposed whir would give positive guidance to drivers as t which are the most suitable routes when tic on the primary or motorway network. It is hoped that standardized signs wi enable foreign drivers in particular to folloi the most suitable routes, and publicit material is planned to be made available t these drivers.
