Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DESPITE the recent amendment of the Construction and Use Regulations permitting the manufacture for home use of 8-ft. wide and 30 ft. long public service vehicles: Licensing Authonities remain the final arbiters on their operation.

In the • Metropolitan Area, many routes are considered unsuitable for the operation of bigger vehicles, and London Transport buses are restricted accordingly. Other operators who hold road service licences have been informed by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority that the use of such vehicles is undesirable.

Licences granted in future may carry restrictions as to the type of vehicle to be used. Operators who run bigger vehicles under licences held at present may prejudice their cases when applying for fresh licences.

. Private-hire operators are not affected—at least, they are outside the jurisdiction of the Authority in this .matter.. It is hoped, however, especially as most private-hire concerns are also holders of road service licences. that they will observe the spirit of the 'Authority's action.
