MR. SYDNEY S. GUY, cha:rman and managing director of Guy Motors, Ltd., while convalescing in Holland from a recent illness, visited the Guy assembly plant in Rotterdam. This plant functions under the control of De Nederlandsche Motoren, MR. A, MCDONALD and MR J. G. WOOD, two Leyland employees who were granted scholarships to Manchester University, returned to Leyland Motors, Ltd. last week with honours degrees in engineering. Mr. McDonald will join the research division and Mr. Wood the production staff.

MR. BEN Han, general manager of Portsmouth Transport Department, was recently presented with a model. 18 ins. long, of a corporation double-deeker by local members of the Transport and General Workers' Union to mark his 21 years of service. The model, made by Reading and Co., Ltd., incorporates a cigarette lighter in the roof.

MR. F. 1. CONNOLLY, retiring president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, who has been in office for the past two years, and MR. J. C. J. PHILLIPS, isl.B.E., who retired from the S.M.M.T. in March after acting as exhibition manager for over 30 years, received presentations at the recent annual luncheon of the Society's council. MR. W. Lriates, president, presented silver to Mr. Connolly, and SIR GEORGE BEHARRELL made the presentation to Mr. Phillips.
