Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALL the Foden passenger chassis to he exhibited and demonstrated at Earls Court this year will be equipped with vertical engines mounted transversely in the frame behind the rear axle. Two of these chassis, one carrying a Whitson body, will have Foden twostroke six-cylindered oil engines, whilst a third model, equipped for left-hand control, will be powered by a Gardner 6 LW engine.

Most of the transmission and braking components of these vehicles are common to existing models in the Foden passenger range.

Among the Foden goods models to be exhibited will be an overseas eightwheeler powered by the Gardner eightcylindered oil engine. It will have a four-speed constant-mesh gearbox, and a two-speed pre-selective epicyclic auxiliary gearbox in the transmission. Double-reduction gear at the four driving wheels gives a total of 16 forward and four reverse ratios.

In addition to A.E.C. and Leyland horizontal-engined passenger chassis. Earls Court will contain three new single-deckers of this type by other

manufacturers. Underfloor -engined exhibits of chassisiess construction will include the Leyland-M.C.W. Olympic, a Sentinel 44-seater 30-ft, model powered by the Sentinel six-cylindered horizontal oil engine and a Beadle with Sentinel. components.

Among the Leyland exhibits will be one of the 620 transit-type 40-seaters for Cuba.

It is learned that the Daimler flatengincd vehicle will not be completed in time for the Show. Although there have been many rumours concerning a Crossley underfloor-engined chassis, its existence has been denied by an A.C.V. representative in a recent interview with "The Commercial Motor."

Other news of horizontal engines concerns two Bristol chassis, one with a Bristol 8.6-litre A.V.W. engine and the other with an 8.4-litre power unit of proprietary make, which are now nearing completion.
