THE board of A.E.C., Ltd., has invited Mr. A. J. Romer, M.I.Mech.E., Minst.T., to become managing director of the company. This appointment carries with it election to the board Of the parent company, Associated Commercial Vehicles, Ltd. Lord Brabazon of Tara, M.C., P.C., is chairman of A.E.C., Ltd.
Mr. Romer is a director of the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co.. Ltd.. and two of its subsidiaries, and general manager of the Bristol concern's motor constructional works. He is also a director of Eastern Coachworks, Ltd., and during the 1939-45 war was a director of Short Bros., Ltd.
He graduated from an apprenticeship with Thornycroft and joined the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd. as assistant engineer. Mr. Romer will assume office with A.E.C. and A.C.V. on October I.
