a lot of time talking to operators at various functions, and I'm shocked at what I've heard. I already knew that it was tough out there, that rates are crap, that profit margins are miniscule and that many of you operate on a hand-to-mouth basis, but I didn't realise quite how much you have to put up with from Vosa!
I've been given examples of PG9s being handed out for the most pathetic reasons, including one operator who was penalised for a cracked rear spring. Fair enough if this was spotted at a roadside check, but it was discovered at the operator's workshop. Not only was the truck off the road, but the fault had been chalked-up and the new part ordered. Have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous? On this occasion the 'offence' was later quashed, but only after a great deal of time and stress on the operator's behalf.
