• Stoke-on-Trent-based RG Bassett and Sons has taken over Beresford Transport in a move which gives Bassett its first international services.
The purchase this week adds nine employees, including Beresford's manager Geoffrey Ellis, 10 trucks and 20 trailers to Bassett's business.
Beresford's depot at Tunstall to the north of Stoke closed on Monday.
The combined haulage business, which has a turnover of up to 16 million, will operate out of Bassett's exist. ing site at Tittensor in Stoke. The Beresford business joins Bassett's 50 trucks, 140 trailers and 90 staff.
