perators who want to rise above the competition at this year's Truckfest need look no further than the Flying Pictures stand. The hot-air balloon specialist is bringing along a brace of its most famous clients' balloons, able to rise comfortably above the diesel fumes emanating from Peterborough's East of England Showground. The Budweiser can and the Maxwell House jar (both 24m high) and the somewhat more rotund Unipart blimp will all be there, looking down on the thousands of visitors milling about the CM stand, where yours truly will enchant children of all ages, and their mums and dads, with haulage tales of yesteryear. Some of the young roustabouts on CM'S team will no doubt unkindly hint that just as much hot air is being expelled at ground level as is contained within the three splendid balloons. But we older hands know they are just displaying understandable jealousy of the wisdom and grand memories of an old man.
Truck fest will be held on 5-6 May at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.
