Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Car transporter Sheertruck has proved there is still money to be made in the car storage and haulage sector by boosting its 1995 pre-tax profits to 2854,000.

The Jacobs Holdings shipping group subsidiary's profits were up from £768,000 for the 14 months to the end of 1994. This contrasts with Tibbett & Britten's report that its car transporter, Axial, is losing £10m a year (see above).

Sheertruck was formed in 1978 to transport Hondas and Daihatsus—it doubled its size with the purchase of BRS Car Delivery from NFC in December 1994. and transported more than 200,000 cars last year for clients including Land Rover, Hyundai, Suzuki and Volvo.

Jacobs Holdings, which also operates the Dart Line freight ferry service between Dartford and Vlissingen, Holland, made £2.83m on a massively increased turnover of £23m for 1995. It pions to expand its car transport business through acquisitions and has been been holding talks with Dundeebased Richard Lawson group, but says a deal was not finalised as a price could not be agreed.
