• The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is to introduce a number of measures to deter candidate impersonation when the new written driving test arrives in July.
Under plans announced in a Consultation Paper by the DSA new test candidates must present their driving licence when taking a theory or practical test.
The paper also requires candidates taking a practical lest after the theory test to present their theory pass certificate to the examiner.
Also planned is a Trainer Booking Facility for lorry theory tests to allow instructors to buy test appointments in advance without naming candidates until shortly before the day of the test.
A £15 fee for the new theory test is proposed, and the MA is also hoping to reinforce rules that require candidates to check that trailers used for the driving test meet the required standards.
