• Just over I ti,oir0 trucks are involved in the latest vehicle safety recalls issued on behalf of the Department of Transport.

All Scania trucks and PSVs built after October 1986 are being recalled to replace clevis pins on the brake and clutch levers.

The clips holding these in place could come off. resulting in loss of braking or clutch control. To remedy the problem the clevis pins are being replaced with ones drilled to accept split pins.

Pre-1990 model year Iveco Ford 45.10 and 49.10 Daily's with ZF manual steering are also in the recall because the retaining nut

may unscrew from Ihe rack housing and result in loss of steering.

Other vehicles involved are: Bedford/Vauxhall Midi vans built between 4/12/89 and 17/4/90, Chassis number IN679141 to LY691879; Scania N113 chassis nos. 1813946 to 1818029; MAN 22.292, 22.332 and 22.362s built between Nov '87 and Oct '89. chassis numbers WMAF 530001 M069822 to WMAF530260 M095153; Leyland Daf F2100, F2300, F2500 and F2700s converted between Aug '84 and Sept '90, chassis nos 246948 to E358938.

Other PSVs under recall are: all MAN SR280Hs with chassis nos starting WMA787: Reeve Burgess vehicles built between Jan '82 and Dec '86 with Goldbray seats: DatIVolvo based Van I lool coaches: Renault S56 bus and S66 truck;vans built between 18 Aug 87 and 12 Apr '89. chassis nos 219007 to 221894; Ford 2.9-litre Transit ambulances built between May '89 and June "90, chassis nos (1989) KB, KR, KA, KG, KC, KK, KD, KE 1990 LL, LY, LS, LT, Li AND LI:.
