AYour employer is responsible for en

suring that your vehicle is tested and plated and you cannot be charged in connection with his failure to do so. However, if your vehicle is weighed when loaded and found to be in excess of what the plated weight would have been had it been plated you can be charged with overloading. Conviction can carry a fine of up to £200 for both you and your employer, in addition your driving licence can be endorsed and this will count as one of three which could lead to suspension. It is in a driver's best interest to ensure that his vehicle is plated. The plating programme appeared in CM July 12 1968.
