BECAUSE the railways had already 1-.0 spent enormous sums on unremunerative routes, they could not he .expected to support non-paying bus routes as well, said Sir Reginald Wilson, president of the Institute of Transport, when he addressed the Northern Section at their annual dinner.
Referring to rural transport facilities, he said that uneconomic routes were inevitable in any network of services. The product of transport in the northern area amounted to £40m. annually.
