-AN appeal by R. L. Williamson and
Sons, Ltd., hauliers, against refusal of planning permission for a garage in Carleton New Rd., Skipton, by Skipton Urban District Council has been dismissed by the Minister of Housing and Local Government. Williamson's had said that alternative sites were unobtainable or unsuitable. The planning authority wanted the land for playing fields. More than LOCO people objected.
Dismissing the appeal, the Minister said he considered the site unsuitable for the proposed garage development as it would Involve lorries using one of the main approaches from the town centre to a houeine estate, causing traffic danger.
