clinics

• HOC is running a series of clinics where welders can discuss any problems they have encountered. Many enquiries are being generated by the shift in emphasis from oxylacetylene and arc welding to MIG and TIG.

The clinics are usually run in the evenings or at weekends: anyone who wants to attend should contact their Shieldmaster supplier.

Many health and safety points are covered in two HOC publications — Safe under pressure for gas cylinders, and Safe from welding fumes for welders using shielding gases.

HOC also runs a network of four information bureaus which handle enquiries on welding problems, suitability of gases, welding fumes and the company's training courses and clinics.
