Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MI A British truck driver was beaten up by Spanish hauliers in

Barcelona this week in the run up to a fresh wave of haulage strikes at Barcelona and Irun (CM 27 Aug-2 Sept).

Driver Gary Evans, of Huddersfield-based Beaver International, suffered cuts and bruises in the attack early on Monday morning (31 August). His attackers also slashed the curtains on his trailer, punctured one of his tyres and damaged his Scania 113 with a rock.

Beaver transport manager Bernard Boot says the attack took place at a customs park in the port.

Local police were Michael

told of the attack but refused to help: "They just had a look and drove off," says Boot.

Baymex International director Michael Salt is among operators who will defy the strikes — goods were being blocked at Barcelona as CM went to press but Irun was clear.
